For the prompt "Fan video of Mei Changsu and Xiao Jingyan with their typical drama, longing, tragedy, to the music of the opening!"
With thanks to
llonkrebboj for the translation beta! Working with hard subs terrifies me but I needed to do it for the ~aesthetic~ orz
My brain right now is in "This Is the Worst Thing I've Ever Created" mode in the sense that I like the individual parts but can't reconcile them into forming a cohesive concept. I guess it's acceptable as a fundraiser gift I banged out in a weekend (I was hoping to be done with my assignments before ZXC's drama dropped—though realistically I don't have the energy or the attention span to watch anything these days). I think it's just that the first time I didn't have a clear vision of what I wanted to achieve, and it shows. Also I was too lazy to go back and redo the color grading in the first scenes and didn't realize how much it'd bother me.
PS. For future!me who will no doubt try to remember what we did - the font I used was dear ivy.
As for the smoke overlay, I downloaded a (free to use without attribution) video clip of smoke to turn this

which blended beautifully with clips with black backgrounds while giving them a bluish tint :')
