I finally have the power to embed shorts... thanks to this website. I've also been playing around with Capcut for "lighter" work. I don't really like the interface. I genuinely struggle to figure out where anything is and frequently have to Google (Inshot and Davinci Resolve have been much more intuitive, in comparison). But it has a robust library of animations and transitions and there's even a desktop version that's now compatible with my OS...

I'm still figuring out the fandom etiquette for posting audiodrama fansubs, and whether or not I'm in danger of getting copyright-struck on Youtube. I should probably put together some sort of master post for my own organization, though I'm kind of resigned that the Modu clips I live-tweeted as I went through season 5 will not make it anywhere else.

Other stuff:
Cdrama Gotcha For Gaza has opened sign-ups for creators and I'm still thinking about whether or not I should sign up. On one hand, I could use prompts so I can remember how Photoshop works. On the other, I'm not suuuuper sure I can deliver and anyway my Adobe might stop working in 5 days, in which case I will have a breakdown lol.

Technical stuff

Cons:
Can no longer upload Our Inn fansubs to Youtube (which would be fine if they subbed extra eps, or if they just let me post subbed clips of ZXC singing!!!)

Pros:
Trying out new platforms and learning new things. \o/

  • Dailymotion: seems more embeddable than Vimeo, but its interface is kind of terrible?

This is what my Youtube post looks like, so my subscribers can see that I uploaded a video somewhere else:
screencap of a Youtube community post linking to an off-site video with an accompanying GIF

  • Captionfy: This is an off-Youtube platform that allows you to add your own subs to Youtube videos, and for people to watch those videos with your subs. Additionally, you can then download the subs and upload them to Youtube yourself (if you were subbing your own content). The subbing interface is 10x better and more useable than Youtube's, AND allows for collaboration—I haven't tried the "teams" function myself, but this is very good to know about since I've had people reaching out to me to collab. 😂 However, Captionfy was designed solely for Youtube, which from a fansubber standpoint has a host of difficulties that I won't get into lol.

Zhang Xincheng Balance Game + Q&A from Our Inn ep 10.5 (March 2023):

(There were quite a few parts that I wanted to cut from sheer uncertainty, but I decided to just close my eyes and roll with it since it's a quickfire 10-minute interview and literally no one else was going to sub it.)

Yao Chen & Zhang Xincheng, "紫 (Purple)" cover (Our Inn ep 11)

ZXC sounds oddly tinny in this (I assume it's a mixing/post-prod issue) but I really enjoyed this duet and am presently haunting ZJSTV's pages in the hopes that they release the rehearsal video for this haha

PS. I subbed this on Captionfy then dropped the .srt file into Davinci Resolve‘s subtitle track for the hardsubs. :)
